Meet the dedicated team leading Survive Out Loud

Meghan Wallace

Meghan Wallace

Co-Founder & Executive Director

Survive Out Loud was co-founded by Meghan Wallace, a stage 4 colorectal cancer survivor, mental health professional, and lifelong advocate for truth, resilience, and connection. With more than 15 years of experience in forensic behavioral health, Meghan brings both clinical expertise and lived experience to her role as Executive Director.

Cancer changed everything for Meghan—not just her health, but her voice, her purpose, and her way of seeing the world. What tried to silence her instead gave her a louder voice and a mission to help others find theirs.

As both a mental health professional and a survivor, Meghan understands the raw truth of survivorship—its fear, uncertainty, and lasting emotional toll. She has spent her career helping individuals in high-stakes environments face challenges with honesty, courage, and stability.

“Healing isn’t about being perfect—it’s about telling the truth, laughing when you can, and refusing to do it
alone.”

Co-Founder & Board Chair

Survive Out Loud was co-founded by Amber Trevaskis Bloomer, a colon cancer survivor, coach, and lifelong advocate for resilience and healing. With more than 30 years of experience in psychology, therapy, and coaching, Amber has dedicated her life to helping people face life's hardest challenges with courage, authenticity, and connection.

Amber knows firsthand that cancer changes everything—not just for those in treatment, but for survivors and caregivers who carry its mental and emotional weight long after. Drawing on her expertise in psychological safety, somatic psychology, and leadership development, she co-created Survive Out Loud as a space where no one has to carry that weight alone.

She is known for her ability to create safe, compassionate spaces where people feel truly seen and heard, as well as her gift for helping others transform struggle into growth.

“Healing begins with honesty and community. Through unfiltered voices, honored stories, and genuine connection, we’re building a movement to break isolation and discover strength together.”

Joseph Yetzer

Joseph Yetzer

Strategic Operations & Communications Advisor

Joe Yetzer is Meghan's oldest son and brings a grounded, thoughtful presence to the Survive Out Loud board. With a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management and professional experience in Inventory and Asset Management, he offers creative insight, steady organization, and practical operational support.

Joe supported his mom closely throughout her cancer journey, witnessing firsthand the emotional, mental, and logistical challenges survivors face long after treatment ends. His lived experience as both a caregiver and family member gives him a unique perspective on what survivors and their loved ones truly need.

Outside of Survive Out Loud, Joe enjoys hiking and birding with his girlfriend, Zoe, and spending time with their beloved blind cat, Charlie, who proudly serves as the self-appointed supervisor of all household activities.

Kimberly Hendrickson

Kimberly Hendrickson

Mental Health & Trauma-Informed Care

Kimberly Hendrickson is a Clinical Social Worker and grateful volunteer with more than 20 years of experience supporting individuals and families across a variety of settings. Her career has always centered on direct care, connection, and walking alongside people through their hardest seasons.

Kimberly brings a deep passion for advocacy, especially for those who struggle to speak up for themselves or don't realize advocacy is even an option. Her commitment is shaped in part by her own survivorship journey: 15 years ago she was diagnosed with squamous cell skin cancer caused by a medication she was prescribed for Crohn's disease.

Outside of her mental health work, Kimberly is currently completing her certification in veterinary social work — a perfect blend of her love for animals and her commitment to healing. She also shows up with humor, heart, and a friendship with Meghan that makes the work lighter, richer, and way more fun.
